WHY PRESIDENT BUSH SHOULD DECLARE
THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY
A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION



The US State Department lists 6 Palestinian terrorist organizations which meet their criteria. They are:

  • HAMAS (Islamic Resistance Movement)
  • Hizballah (Party of God)
  • Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ)
  • Palestine Liberation Front (PLF)
  • Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP)
  • Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC).

Yet there are several more Palestinian organizations which deserve to be listed because of their active terrorism against Israeli civilians. Among many names that have surfaced during the 17 month intifada, 7,8 and 9 are now notorious:

I believe it is instructive to recall what President George Bush said about America's war on terrorism when he addressed both Houses of Congress on Thursday night, September 20, 2001. I have excerpted selected remarks from his historical address. (You can use the link at the end to access the President’s full speech.)

“By aiding and abetting murder, the Taliban regime is committing murder.” (Applies equally to the Palestinian Authority.)

In recent days we find that these once separate terrorist groups are both cooperating and competing with each other in their mission to maximize the killing of Israelis. Their individual identities are becoming blurred, with Force 17 and the Tanzim planning combined operations, and Hamas lending a helping hand. Nor does Hamas only help the latter.

“From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime.”

The extent to which the Palestinian Authority is dedicated to harboring, aiding, abetting, equipping and financing the 10 named terror groups* united under their umbrella can only be surmised. That the cost must run into many hundreds of millions, even billions of dollars, is clearly evident. *(There is no lack of names for the many smaller groups.) “We will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place until there is no refuge or no rest.” The individuals who make up the Palestinian Authority Terrorist groups are considerable in number. They do not make a living by working. Their living expenses come from their membership in one of the Palestinian Authority Terrorist Groups. They receive killing bonuses for the numbers of Israelis put to death*. “The only way to defeat terrorism as a threat to our way of life is to stop it, eliminate it and destroy it where it grows.” Money for quarters, communications, family allowances, health, clothes, food, training, explosives, bombs, arms and ammunition, communications etc. etc., must come from someone, somewhere. I don’t list vehicles because most are stolen from Israel with the PA’s benign approval. *(If the terrorists were to receive cash for inflicting wounds they would indeed be rich.) “And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism . Every nation in every region now has a decision to make: Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists.” The Palestine Terrorist Authority is father and mother to more than ten terrorist organizations which carry out their mission to kill Jews. Only Arafat and his henchmen control the huge sums of money that pour in to sustain the Authority and the terrorists who fight its battle. The European Community is among the PA’s biggest and most regular financial contributors. Even the US administration is a contributor, though not a particularly generous one. Kach and Kahane Chai State lists two Israeli terrorist organizations - Kach and Kahane Chai. This followed a decision by the Israeli Cabinet which came after Dr. Baruch Goldstein’s fired on Muslim worshippers, killing 29 and wounding 100. (February ’94) It was a tribute to Israel’s hatred of terrorism. Though Goldstein had joined Kach while still living in the US, he left no testimony, verbal or written, saying he was going to kill Arabs for Kach’s sake. After his death the then virtually dormant Kach movement tried to claim credit. Kach and Kahane Chai have been quite dormant since being outlawed.They (the Taliban) will hand over the terrorists or they will share in their fate. They want to drive Israel out of the Middle East. They want to drive Christians and Jews out of vast regions of Asia and Africa. We will direct every resource at our command -- every means of diplomacy, every tool of intelligence, every instrument of law enforcement, every financial influence, and every necessary weapon of war -- to the destruction and to the defeat of the global terror network.” “This is not, however, just America's fight. And what is at stake is not just America's freedom. This is the world's fight. This is civilization's fight. This is the fight of all who believe in progress and pluralism, tolerance and freedom. Terror unanswered cannot only bring down buildings, it can threaten the stability of legitimate governments.” “The terrorists' directive commands them to kill Christians and Jews, to kill all Americans and make no distinctions among military and civilians, including women and children. This group and its leader, a person named Osama bin Laden, are linked to many other organizations in different countries, including the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.” “There are thousands of these terrorists in more than 60 countries.”. It is not only repressing its own people, it is threatening people everywhere by sponsoring and sheltering and supplying terrorists. By aiding and abetting murder, the Taliban regime is committing murder. And tonight the United States of America makes the following demands on the Taliban: -- Deliver to United States authorities all of the leaders of Al Qaeda who hide in your land. -- Release all foreign nationals, including American citizens you have unjustly imprisoned. -- Protect foreign journalists, diplomats and aid workers in your country. -- Close immediately and permanently every terrorist training camp in Afghanistan. And hand over every terrorist and every person and their support structure to appropriate authorities. -- Give the United States full access to terrorist training camps, so we can make sure they are no longer operating. These demands are not open to negotiation or discussion. (APPLAUSE) The Taliban must act and act immediately. They will hand over the terrorists or they will share in their fate. Our enemy is a radical network of terrorists and every government that supports them. Our war on terror begins with al Qaeda, but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and defeated. . We have seen their kind before. They're the heirs of all the murderous ideologies of the 20th century. By sacrificing human life to serve their radical visions, by abandoning every value except the will to power, they follow in the path of fascism, Nazism and totalitarianism. And they will follow that path all the way to where it ends in history's unmarked grave of discarded lies. We will direct every resource at our command -- every means of diplomacy, every tool of intelligence, every instrument of law enforcement, every financial influence, and every necessary weapon of war -- to the destruction and to the defeat of the global terror network. Our response involves far more than instant retaliation and isolated strikes. Americans should not expect one battle, but a lengthy campaign unlike any other we have ever seen. It may include dramatic strikes visible on TV and covert operations secret even in success. And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation in every region now has a decision to make: Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime. The only way to defeat terrorism as a threat to our way of life is to stop it, eliminate it and destroy it where it grows. Many will be involved in this effort, from FBI agents, to intelligence operatives, to the reservists we have called to active duty. Terror unanswered cannot only bring down buildings, it can threaten the stability of legitimate governments. We will come together to give law enforcement the additional tools it needs to track down terror here at home. Freedom and fear are at war. The advance of human freedom, the great achievement of our time and the great hope of every time, now depends on us. We will rally the world to this cause by our efforts, by our courage. We will not tire, we will not falter and we will not fail. Feb 16, 2002 - Nehemia Amar, 15, and Keren Shatsky, 15, both of Ginot Shomron were killed and about 30 people were wounded, six seriously, when a suicide bomber blew himself up on Saturday night at a pizzeria in the shopping mall in Karnei Shomron in Samaria. Rachel Theler, 16, of Ginot Shomron died of her wounds on February 27. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Fatah Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade

Mar 2, 2002 - Ten people were killed and over 50 were injured, 4 critically, in a suicide bombing at 19:15 on Saturday evening near a yeshiva in the ultra-Orthodox Beit Yisrael neighborhood in the center of Jerusalem where people had gathered for a bar-mitzva celebration. The terrorist detonated the bomb next to a group of women waiting with their baby carriages for their husbands to leave the nearby synagogue. The victims: Shlomo Nehmad (40), his wife Gafnit (32), and their daughters Shiraz (7) and Liran (3), of Rishon Lezion; Shaul Nehmad (15), of Rishon Lezion; Lidor Ilan (12) and his sister Oriah (18 months), of Rishon Lezion; Tzofia Ya'arit Eliyahu (23) and her son Ya'akov Avraham (7 months), of Jerusalem. Avi Hazan, 37, of Moshav Adora, died of his injuries on Monday morning (Mar 4). The Fatah Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade took responsibility for the attack.

Mar 5, 2002 - Police officer FSM Salim Barakat, 33, of Yarka; Yosef Habi, 52, of Herzliya; and Eli Dahan, 53, of Lod were killed and over 30 people were wounded in Tel-Aviv when a Palestinian terrorist opened fire on two adjacent restaurants shortly after 2:00 AM. The Fatah Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Islamic Jihad

Mar 5, 2002 - Maharatu Tagana, 85, of Upper Nazareth was killed and a large number of people injured, most lightly, when a suicide bomber exploded in an Egged No. 823 bus as it entered the Afula central bus station. The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack.

Feb 10, 2002 - Lt. Keren Rothstein, 20, of Ashkelon and Cpl. Aya Malachi, 18, of Moshav Ein Habesor were killed in a drive-by terrorist shooting at the entrance to the IDF Southern Command base in Be'er Sheva. Four others were wounded, one critically. One of the terrorists was killed at the scene; the second, wearing an explosives belt, fled in the direction of a nearby school when he was shot and killed by a soldier and police officer. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.

Fatah and Hamas

Feb 6, 2002 - Miri Ohana, 45, and her daughter Yael, 11, were murdered in their home when an armed terrorist infiltrated Moshav Hamra, halfway between Jericho and Beit She'an in the Jordan Valley on Wednesday evening, opening fire. IDF reserve soldier, St.-Sgt. Maj.(res.) Moshe Majos Meconen, 33, of Beit She'an, was also killed in the attack. The terrorist, who entered the Ohana home disguised in IDF uniform, was killed by IDF forces. Both Fatah and Hamas claimed responsibility.

Fatah

Jan 27, 2002 - Pinhas Tokatli, 81, of Jerusalem was killed and over 150 people were wounded, four seriously, in a suicide bombing on Jaffa Road, in the center of Jerusalem, shortly before 12:30. The female terrorist, identified as a Fatah member, was armed with more than 10 kilos of explosives.

Fatah Al-Aqsa Brigades

Jan 17, 2002 - Edward Bakshayev, 48, of Or Akiva; Anatoly Bakshayev, 63, of Or Akiva; Aharon Ben Yisrael-Ellis, 32, of Ra'anana; Dina Binayev, 48, of Ashkelon; Boris Melikhov, 56, of Sderot; and Avi Yazdi, 25, of Hadera were killed and 35 injured, several seriously, when a terrorist burst into a bat mitzva reception in a banquet hall in Hadera shortly before 23:00, opening fire with an M-16 assault rifle. The Fatah Al-Aqsa Brigades claimed responsibility for the attack.

Stated goal is to restore the biblical state of Israel. Kach (founded by radical Israeli-American rabbi Meir Kahane) and its offshoot Kahane Chai, which means "Kahane Lives" (founded by Meir Kahane's son Binyamin following his father's assassination in the United States), were declared to be terrorist organizations in March 1994 by the Israeli Cabinet under the 1948 Terrorism Law. This followed the groups' statements in support of Dr. Baruch Goldstein's attack in February 1994 on the al-Ibrahimi Mosque--Goldstein was affiliated with Kach--and their verbal attacks on the Israeli Government. Palestinian gunmen killed Binyamin Kahane and his wife in a drive-by shooting on 31 December in the West Bank.
